About Tom
What type of clients do you serve?
My clients are individuals and small, closely held businesses. I help these West Michigan businesses in all business matters, including but not limited to, estate and tax planning, commercial and real estate transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.
What sets you apart from other lawyers in your practice field?
As both an attorney and a CPA, I have a unique skill set that helps me analyze financial statements, tax returns and other financial documents.
What case did you find the most rewarding to work on?
Early in my career, a client who received a Final Notice Before Seizure of Assets from the IRS contacted us. We filed suit against the IRS in Federal Court and prevailed at the trial court level. The IRS appealed and we won again at the Court of Appeals. Ultimately, the case settled for a fraction of what was initially claimed by the IRS.
