Rhoades McKee’s community involvement program is called Good Works. Striving to create ongoing, mutually beneficial partnerships, Rhoades McKee works with local nonprofit organizations to sponsor programs that will have a significant and noticeable impact in the community.

Each year the Good Works programs cover a range of causes in education, healthcare, and the arts.

2008 Good Works Programs

Rhoades McKee continues to partner with St. John's Home/KidsFirst to provide Easter baskets, backpacks and school supplies to children who are placed in their care. The Rhoades McKee KidsFirst Committee is also organizing the collection of Christmas gifts for the children, for a third consecutive year.

Rhoades McKee and Kendall College of Art and Design are working together for the 4th annual holiday card design contest, awarding first, second and third place scholarships. Also, Rhoades McKee will be providing a seminar/presentation to art students who are interested in starting their own business.

2007 Good Works Programs

Rhoades McKee partnered with St. John's Home/KidsFirst to provide backpacks and school supplies to children who are placed in their care. In addition, Rhoades McKee painted seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as well as furnished the bathrooms with bath and hand towels, shower curtains, rugs, and similar items. Rhoades McKee also organized a bake/craft sale called "Inch by Inch" to raise funds for new carpet in the bedrooms.  Christmas gifts were again provided to the children.

For a third year, Rhoades McKee opened a holiday card design contest to Kendall College of Art and Design students . A total of 13 Kendall students submitted holiday card designs. A panel of judges at Rhoades McKee selected Leigha Kenny’s design for the 2007 holiday card. Leigha received a $2,000 scholarship award from the firm. Second and third place honors were also given.

2006 Good Works Programs

Rhoades McKee partnered with Baxter Community Center to provide backpacks and school supplies to 40 children in the Center’s daycare and mentoring programs. Baxter Community Center provides services to low-income individuals and families in the Baxter Neighborhood of Grand Rapids.

For a second year, Rhoades McKee partnered with Kendall College of Art and Design for a holiday card design contest. Kendall students submitted holiday card designs. A panel of judges at Rhoades McKee selected Kristen Juhl’s design for the 2006 holiday card. Kristen received a $2,000 scholarship award from the firm. Second and third place honors were also given.

Rhoades McKee sponsored sports physicals for 150 children in the Grand Rapids Public Schools. Catherine’s Care Center, celebrating their tenth year providing healthcare to the working poor, is offering sports physicals free of charge to students, both at their clinic and at area schools.

Rhoades McKee partnered with St. John's Home/KidsFirst to provide bedding for the children who are placed in their care.  In addition, Christmas gifts were also provided to the children.

2005 Good Works Programs

Rhoades McKee partnered with the Child and Family Resource Council and Grand Rapids Public Schools to provide 250 backpacks and school supplies for the students of East Leonard Elementary School.

Rhoades McKee worked with Kendall College of Art and Design to develop a holiday card design contest. Kendall students submitted holiday card designs. A panel of judges at Rhoades McKee selected Michelle Lindale’s design for the 2005 holiday card. The winning designer received a $2,000 scholarship award from the firm. Second and third place honors were also given.

Rhoades McKee sponsored a flu outreach program with Catherine’s Care Center, a healthcare clinic for the working poor. Catherine's Care Center is housed in the basement of St. Alphonsus church in the Creston Neighborhood. In the fall, Catherine’s Care provided over 500 flu shots, free of charge, to underserved populations at senior centers and schools.
