Dan E. Bylenga, Jr.
Dan concentrates his practice in the area of general civil
and complex commercial litigation, commercial transactions and
bankruptcy with an emphasis on business reorganization,
creditor’s rights and litigation.
He has been consistently recognized by his peers as a Super Lawyer for his work in Business Litigation.
He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, where he is a Fellow of the State Bar Foundation, the Grand Rapids Bar Association where he has served on several committees, including Continuing Legal Education and Minority Recruitment, and the Federal Bar Association of West Michigan.
Dan has been admitted
to practice in Michigan (1980) and Alabama (1981), as
well as the Federal Court for the Western District of
Michigan, Federal Bankruptcy Court for the Western District
of Michigan, Federal Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern
District of Michigan and the United States 6th Circuit
Court of Appeals.
Dan is active in community affairs
having served on the East Grand Rapids Planning Commission
(chairperson), the ARC Kent County (director) and both
the Spring Lake Yacht Club and Spring Lake Junior Sailing
Association as an officer, director and trustee. In his
spare time, Dan enjoys sailing, alpine skiing, and restoring
wood boats.
Born and raised in West Michigan, Dan was educated at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN (B.A. 1974) and Thomas M. Cooley Law School (J.D. cum laude, 1980).
