Jonathan A. Fennell
A native of California, Jonathan graduated from Calvin College with a B.A. in philosophy and in classical languages (Greek and Latin) in 1998. He then taught Latin, Spanish and Logic in a local school for four years before starting law school. He received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2005, where he participated in the Legal Aid clinic and trial advocacy program. During his final year of law school he served as the research assistant for Professor M. Kathleen Kaveny, the John P. Murphy Foundation Professor of Law and Professor of Theology.
Jonathan’s areas of practice include creditors’ rights, construction law, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He has experience in premises liability and insurance defense. In 2007, he successfully defended a federal discrimination lawsuit, Robbins v. American Preferred Management Company, Inc., obtaining summary judgment on all claims.
Jonathan is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Grand Rapids Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is a member of the Grand Rapids Chapter of the Calvin College Alumni Association. He also chairs the KidsFirst Committee at Rhoades McKee, which works St. John’s Home to improve the lives of neglected and abused children in Kent County.
