Michael C. Walton
Born October 11, 1949; admitted
to bar, May, 1976, Michigan. Education: Michigan State
University (B.S., 1971); Detroit College of Law (J.D.,
1976). I have extensive experience in complex construction
litigation, construction liens, real estate and business
litigation.
I have acted as a facilitative mediator;
an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association;
a Case Evaluator in Ottawa and Kent Counties and in the
United States District Court for the Western District
of Michigan; and was a member of the faculty for the
Hillman Advocacy Program. I have taught construction
law courses for the Michigan Institute of Continuing
Legal Education, the National Business Institute and
as part of the Continuing Legal Education Program for
the Grand Rapids Bar Association. I am a member of the
Grand Rapids Bar Association and the Michigan Bar Association.
I am the Chairman of the Board of
Directors for Kent Commerce Bank; was a City Commissioner
for the City of East Grand Rapids from 1989-1997; was
a Board Member of the Kent County Community Mental Health
Board from 1997-2000; and am past President of the Grand
Rapids Bar Association. In my spare time I enjoy hiking,
kayaking, college basketball and travel.
