About Will

How do you help businesses and individuals?

I help individuals and businesses resolve legal disputes, often by representing clients in state and federal courts, with a focus on general civil, complex commercial and construction litigation. My experience includes representing clients in personal and business matters, including fraud, breach of contract, conversion, construction defect, corporate oppression, shareholder and corporate governance matters, personal injury, consumer protection, and debt collection. I also represent clients in regulatory and administrative hearings, including before the Michigan Tax Tribunal, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), and Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA), as well as in arbitrations, mediations and other alternative dispute resolution arenas. My goal with any client is to provide well-considered legal advice with a focus on practical, real-world solutions.

What skills help you advise the client and achieve the best results or outcomes?

Attention to Detail. Patience. Determination. These are the skills I apply to each client’s legal matter to ensure the best possible outcome.

What did you learn in your first year of practice that you still utilize today?

“Ask the extra question.” Early in my practice, I was so focused on getting an answer to the client that I would forget to dig deeper into my client’s “story.” It did not take me long to learn to “ask the extra question.” Why did the client take the action it did? What else is at stake for the client? How does this fit into the client’s overall business strategy? What are the client’s short term and long term goals and limitations? Asking these “extra questions” ensures that I have all of the information necessary to develop a winning legal strategy for my client.
