About Claire

What types of clients do you serve?

I work with individuals and families at different stages of life. I help clients make informed decisions about their future and put plans in place to ensure those wishes can be carried out. This includes planning for incapacity, such as designating who should act on a client’s behalf if they are unable to do so, as well as advising on how to protect and pass assets.

I also assist individuals after the loss of a loved one, guiding clients through the probate process or the administration of a trust. My goal is to provide a smooth, efficient administration that honors the decedent’s wishes while ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.

What skills help you advise the client and achieve the best results or outcomes?

I recognize that speaking with an attorney can be difficult, especially when discussing something as personal and emotional as estate planning or when grieving the loss of a loved one. An estate planning attorney must be able to listen well and serve each client with empathy. I take pride in my ability to be present with each client and truly listen to what they have to say. Only after understanding a client’s perspective am I able to provide meaningful advice and guide them through the next steps. My legal expertise is most effective when I have become attuned to the client’s unique situation and goals.

How do any of your community interests or activities facilitate how you represent your client?

Throughout my life, I have enjoyed being connected with nonprofit organizations through internships, jobs, and time spent volunteering. I find joy in learning about the ways my clients are involved in their communities and the organizations that mean the most to them. These conversations allow me to advise clients on the most effective ways to support the organizations they care about through their estate planning.

Education

Indiana University Maurer School of Law, J.D., Cum Laude, 2025

Hope College, B.A. in Business, Summa Cum Laude, 2022

Q: If you weren't a lawyer, what would you be?

A:

Before deciding to attend law school, I wanted to be an educator. I love making complex ideas simple and helping others to see the beauty of learning new things. I have found that the skills that make a great teacher mirror those that make a great lawyer: anticipating and dispelling confusion, communicating clearly, and acting with compassion.
