Why Work at Rhoades McKee?

When you find a work environment that suits your style you’re more likely to do your best as a legal professional, in your personal life, and in the community. As you consider opportunities, ask yourself whether these factors are important to you:

  • A work environment where colleagues are collaborative, relaxed, and friendly.
  • Spaces offering state-of-the-art design and technology that encourage interdisciplinary teamwork to effectively serve all clients.
  • A firm large enough to offer over 25 legal practice specialties yet small enough to create professional development opportunities.
  • A firm that supports giving back to the community.
  • An organization that supports a progressive culture, including naming women to key leadership roles and providing work/life balance opportunities, domestic partner benefits, and remote access.
  • A firm who participates in diversity and inclusion programs such as the grab LAW initiative and Grand Rapids Bar Minority Clerkship Program.
  • A work environment where financial success is shared through a joint profit sharing program available to attorneys and staff.
  • An organization that offers a competitive benefits program, including major insurance and disability coverage, medical and dependent care reimbursement, wireless carrier discounts and parking.

If you find these characteristics important, Rhoades McKee may be the place for you.

Life at Rhoades McKee

“Rhoades McKee provides its associates with the support and resources they need to excel and with meaningful opportunities to grow and gain experience quickly. Just as importantly, it’s a place where people genuinely enjoy working with one another and doors are always open.”

— Tim Dudley, Attorney

“When I joined Rhoades McKee, I was looking for a firm with experienced, respected attorneys who take their work seriously, but do not always take themselves too seriously. I found exactly what I was looking for: an excellent team that works well together and has fun doing it.”

– Jon Siebers, Attorney

“Beginning a new position can be an overwhelming transition.  I was surprised at the level of support I received during my first several weeks.  Everyone was so friendly and it made me feel like part of a family. It’s a great feeling when you wake up in the morning and actually look forward to going to work.”

— Jennifer Stough, Paralegal

Diversity and Inclusion Programs

Diversity empowers our clients and community with a variety of perspectives and creates a broader, richer environment that encourages creative thinking. By creating a culture of inclusion, we eliminate the barriers to individuals of diverse backgrounds and reflect the composition of the community and clients we serve.

Working in conjunction with the Grand Rapids Bar Association and other major law firms, Rhoades McKee is a member of the Managing Partner Diversity Collaborative Agreement. Signed in 2011, these members agree to work together to promote diversity and inclusion in the West Michigan community by developing and executing a plan to expand the pipeline of persons entering the law profession, recruit attorneys, and improve the retention and advancement of female attorneys and attorneys of color over the next five years.

In March of 2012, the Managing Partners Collaborative released the Action Plan which outlines the program details.

grab LAW, one component of the Action Plan, is a campaign which identifies and engages young professionals to explore both the career and life style opportunities available in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Rhoades McKee also actively participates in the Minority Clerkship Program sponsored by the Floyd Skinner Bar Association. This program gives first-year minority law students the opportunity to clerk during the summer and become acquainted with the opportunities for minority lawyers in West Michigan. As a part of our on-going commitment, we:

  • Utilize recruiting efforts to promote the hiring of individuals with diverse backgrounds, especially women and minorities;
  • Include individuals of diverse backgrounds in our leadership, training, management and client development opportunities;
  • Engage in mentoring and community activities to attract individuals of diverse background to the practice of law.

We are committed to creating a culturally competent environment that serves our firm, clients, and community.
