About Jack

How do you help businesses and individuals?

My clients face various issues, and I have helped individuals and businesses resolve construction disputes, contract issues, business claims, and negligence cases. In every case, I aim to tailor my approach to fit each client’s immediate needs and long-term goals. My clients can count on me to listen to what they have to say, collaborate effectively, and have open, honest conversations to ensure that their goals are being met.

What is the most important advice that you have given a client?

Don’t let an outcome be dictated by emotion. Legal disputes are inherently frustrating, and it’s important to remember that the goal isn’t to punish the other party but to resolve the dispute as fairly and efficiently as possible. Reaching an optimal resolution often involves stepping back, taking a deep breath, and evaluating the options. It’s not always easy, but the results are always better.

What case did you find the most rewarding to work on?

A few years ago, I helped several young families who had lost millions after a contractor absconded with the money they had given him to build their dream homes. We were able to help the families recover their losses and worked to provide them with the tools to move forward with their plans. Even during such a life-changing dispute, the families were incredibly gracious, and representing them was an experience I won’t forget anytime soon.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the West Michigan community?

A:

My favorite thing about West Michigan is the collegiality- both with respect to the legal profession as well as the broader community. While I’ve been fortunate to have worked across the state and across the country, West Michigan has some of the most positive, collaborative people and businesses that I’ve ever worked with. The environment is unlike anything I’ve experienced elsewhere, and it’s why I returned to work in Grand Rapids.
