(October 10, 2017) Scott Steiner was elected to serve a one-year term as the Chair of the Environmental Law Section for the State Bar of Michigan.

Steiner concentrates his practice helping organizations navigate the complex state and federal environmental and land use regulations including remediation and closure of contaminated sites, redevelopment of “brownfield” sites, development of mining projects, and securing of permits involving natural resources such as wetlands, sand dunes, rivers and lakes.

Steiner previously served the State Bar of Michigan as a member of the Environmental Law Section Council and as Chair of the Water Law Committee.  Currently, he is a member of the Section of Environment, Energy and Resources-Water Quality and Wetlands Committee, Environmental Transactions and Brownfields Committee, Mining and Mineral Extraction Committee, and the Mining Policy Committee of the American Bar Association.  Steiner is a committee member of the Mining Policy and Environmental Policy for the Michigan Manufacturers Association and a Member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.

Steiner enjoys a reputation for his work in the area of environmental law.  He has been recognized by his peers as a Best Lawyer® in Environmental Law and Environmental Litigation for several years including, Best Lawyers of America® “Lawyer of the Year, 2014-2015” for Grand Rapids, and he has been consistently rated as Martindale-Hubbell, AV Preeminent ® Lawyer.
