Rhoades McKee is proud to announce that Suanne Watt Stay was honored on September 5, 2019 at the annual luncheon celebrating Michigan Lawyers Weekly “Women in the Law.”

Each year, Michigan Lawyers Weekly hosts the annual event to recognize the top female attorneys who practice in Michigan.  Honorees are selected for inclusion based on their commitment to excellence in the practice of law, leadership skills, and dedication to volunteerism and mentoring to other female attorneys.

With nearly 20 years of legal experience, Suanne’s work in family law and mediation has earned her the respect of peers throughout Michigan.  Because of these efforts, she was also recognized by peer review programs including US News Best Lawyer® and a Grand Rapids Magazine Top Lawyer.

Suanne’s service to her profession includes leadership roles in the State Bar of Michigan and the Grand Rapids Bar Association.  She has served on the State Bar of Michigan Character and Fitness District Committee, a Member and Mentor of the Family Law Section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, a Co-Chair of the Justice Foundation of West Michigan, a Board Member of the Women’s Lawyer Association, a Board Member of the Young Lawyers Association, and a Board Member of CASA.

Currently, Suanne serves on the firm’s Executive Committee where she guides the firm’s strategic planning and seeks to improve the delivery of legal services to the West Michigan community.  During her term, the firm has added more female associates, recruited an all minority summer clerk class, and expanded services to include a Hastings location.  She serves on the Executive Committee with Pat Drueke and Paul McCarthy.

Suanne obtained certification for mediation from the Mediation Training and Consultation Institute in 2008.  She earned her law degree from Indiana University – Bloomington, Maurer School of Law in 2000 and her bachelor degree from James Madison College at Michigan State University.
