About Dan

How do you help businesses and individuals?

I concentrate my practice in both general business law and real estate law, including entity formations, mergers and acquisitions, finance, commercial transactions, construction, and real estate acquisition, sale, leasing and development. I help business and individual clients by discussing their goals and concerns, and then assist them with structuring transactions and agreements in a manner that both achieves their goals and protects their interests.

How have your skills evolved in your career?

Simply put there is no substitute for experience. In representing clients for over 25 years, I have had the privilege of assisting clients with a wide variety of issues and transactions in the world of business and real estate. Each circumstance presents an opportunity to learn something new to develop my skills as an attorney, including how to better draft documents to meet client needs, more effectively advocate for my client, and better avoid or resolve disagreements or pitfalls among parties.

What has been the most difficult news you have had to deliver to a client?

Sometimes you have to tell a client what they did was illegal or wrong, which is difficult news to deliver. Usually, the client took the action without realizing it was wrong or that there was a law or regulation that prohibited such activity. While I will assist the client in addressing and minimizing the consequence of their action, I have to tell the client that I cannot make the consequences disappear.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being a lawyer?

A:

The best part of being a lawyer, at least a business and real estate lawyer, is to hear clients’ stories, hopes, and dreams and then assist them in achieving their hopes and dreams. That could be helping them start and sustain a business, helping them sell their business and retire after a fulfilling career, or helping them buy that piece of property and build a new building. It is rewarding to help others achieve their dreams.
