About Stephanie

What legal issues do your clients typically face?

I specialize in the areas of real estate and environmental law. Typically, my clients are involved in real estate transactions and development projects that become complicated due to environmental contamination, zoning restrictions, or the presence of wetlands. My knowledge of environmental law allows me to counsel clients on an array of compliance and regulatory issues that may expose them to liability when buying, selling, or leasing commercial real estate. I am also able to advise them on processes related to permitting and Brownfield redevelopment.

How have your skills evolved in your career?

Before law school, I worked in various nonprofits where I sought grant funding and managed organizational relationships with government agencies. During those early years of my career, I had to be a self-starter. I developed a problem-solving mindset, honed my research skills, and learned how to collaborate with others to get new projects off the ground. These skills serve me well today when clients attempt to launch a new development or complete a complicated transaction. My goal is to solve problems for my clients. I do this by asking questions, anticipating emerging issues, and finding the information that enables us to chart a path through the obstacles.

What did you learn in your first year of practice that you still utilize today?

To provide the best legal counsel to clients, an attorney must always be refreshing her knowledge of the law. The world never stops changing, and neither do the laws that regulate land uses and business operations. I make it a priority to stay informed about proposed changes in the regulatory landscape and to participate in professional associations where critical news and information are shared.
