Rhoades McKee is seeking an experienced litigation associate to join our nationally-recognized and thriving litigation practice group. Our team handles civil litigation matters, primarily representing individuals and businesses in mediations, arbitrations, and lawsuits in State and Federal courts throughout Michigan. As our practice continues to grow, we are looking to supplement our ranks with an individual who has a proven track record of handling disputes from initial client interviews through dispute resolution, and whom we could trust to handle matters independently or with minimal oversight. Environmental Attorney

Rhoades McKee is seeking an experienced Environmental Attorney to join our team. This attorney’s primary role will include representing clients with respect to a broad spectrum of environmental and natural resources matters under state and federal law, including due diligence, site remediation, regulatory compliance, permitting, brownfield redevelopment, insurance claims and disputes, environmental audits, litigation, enforcement, administrative appeals and dispute resolution.

Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Rhoades McKee is seeking a full-time Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team. This role’s primary responsibilities include administering tasks relating to the Firm’s payroll, benefits, and employee leaves.

Responsibilities

  •  Manage the Firm’s payroll and benefits functions, ensuring payroll is processed on time and accurately.
  • Review, reconcile, and approve staff time cards.
  • Audit payroll data entry and employee status changes to ensure accuracy before payroll execution.
  • Prepare, process, and record semi-monthly payroll, report preparation, journal entries, and third-party imports for various fringe benefits.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the payroll software to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Assist with calculating monthly bonus awards, processing unfunded retirement account checks, and maintaining a database with FTE calculations.
  • Assist with insurance carrier invoice reconciliation.
  • Assist with managing and implementing employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other fringe benefits.
  • Assist with various year-end profit-sharing testing data.
  • Educate employees on available benefits, communicate changes, and facilitate open enrollment.
  • Administer COBRA enrollments/changes and respond to and manage unemployment claims.
  • Provide support with the recruiting process through applicant tracking and candidate profile uploads.
  • Coordinates and conducts the new employee preboarding and orientation process.
  • Process new hire paperwork and maintain employee records.
  • Coordinates and maintains all employee tracking in HRIS such as entering new hires, transfers, terminations, performance reviews, address changes, leaves of absence, etc.
  • Support with implementing and maintaining HRIS processes and workflows.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Relevant Skills and Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, human resources, or business-related field.
  • 2+ years of prior experience in payroll, benefits, and compensation.
  • Strong knowledge of benefit and compensation programs and related functions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clerical support to attorneys.
  • Maintain paper and electronic filing systems.
  • Organize and manage documents.
  • Proficiently edit complex documents.
  • Set up video conferencing.
  • Prepare drafts of legal documents, such as contracts, letters of intent, exhibits, and closing documents.
  • Coordinate execution of agreements using e-signature software.
  • Professionally communicate with clients.
  • Process expense reports, coordinate and schedule meetings, process bills, and maintain attorney calendars.

Qualifications
