(October 30, 2018) Commercial Litigation Attorney Paul McCarthy was named as a 2018 Benchmark Litigation “Local Litigation Star.” Selected through an extensive examination process of litigation specialists in the United States and Canada, McCarthy is among only forty-one other Michigan litigators to be included in this year’s publication.

According to the Benchmark Litigation website, the litigation team is recognized for being “experts in complicated litigation.” Seasoned litigator Paul McCarthy is an expert in business litigation and family law. One client testifies, “Paul McCarthy was proficient in business litigation and business valuation.”

With a background in finance and accounting and specialized training in business valuation, McCarthy concentrates his practice determining the value of privately held business interests, often in high-stakes, complex and contentious shareholder and family law disputes. His representative highlights include matters involving post-acquisition disputes, and officers, directors, or shareholders in oppression litigation, dissenters’ rights actions, business valuation in divorce actions, breach of fiduciary duties, and trustees and beneficiaries of trusts holding privately held interests.

Currently serving as Rhoades McKee’s President and Executive Committee Member, he is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Grand Rapids Bar Association, and a Michigan State Bar Foundation Fellow.

McCarthy completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. He earned his Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor from Marquette University.
