Grand Rapids, MI – Rhoades McKee is proud to announce that attorney Paul A. McCarthy has been recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as a “Go To Lawyer” for Business Litigation in 2025.

With more than 33 years of practice, McCarthy is widely regarded in the legal community for resolving complex ownership and management disputes within privately held businesses, particularly those involving high-stakes valuations.

McCarthy describes his practice as “the intersection of accounting, finance, and the law.” In addition to his law degree, he holds an MBA and has pursued advanced coursework in business valuation to complement his legal expertise. This unique skillset allows him to approach disputes with both the insight of a financial expert and the advocacy of an experienced litigator.

“I believe my finance and business valuation background has helped me substantially in my practice,” McCarthy said. “It is rewarding to bring the financial aspects of disputes to life in a trial setting and ensure my clients’ interests are strongly represented.”

Beyond his litigation work, McCarthy has contributed to the profession through service on a task force evaluating potential changes to the Michigan Business Corporations Act and as a presenter at the Michigan Judicial Conference on shareholder disputes.

Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s “Go To Lawyer” program recognizes top lawyers across the state who are leaders in their field, with a reputation for expertise, professionalism, and success in client representation.
